Maharajas' Express is one of India's best-known luxury tourist trains and is operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.
The service commenced operations in 2010 and was developed to provide a high-end railway tourism experience inspired by India's royal heritage.
Rather than operating as a normal scheduled passenger train, Maharajas' Express offers curated multi-day tourism journeys.
Current itineraries include combinations of destinations such as Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Mumbai, Orchha, Khajuraho and Varanasi.
The train features luxury cabins and suites, restaurants, lounges and personalised onboard hospitality.
Although Maharajas' Express is not itself UNESCO-listed, several destinations along its itineraries contain UNESCO World Heritage properties and other nationally significant monuments.
