Chidambaram railway station (code CDM) serves Chidambaram, a temple town and taluk headquarters in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. It is an NSG-5 station in the Tiruchirappalli division of the Southern Railway, on the historic Chennai Egmore–Thanjavur main line.
On the historic main line
The main line through Chidambaram links Chennai Egmore with the Cauvery delta and the south, towards Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Karaikudi and Rameswaram. The line is electrified at 25 kV AC and the station has three tracks, only about 6 metres above sea level near the coast.
