Dharwad railway station, rebuilt with a green touch
Dharwad railway station (code DWR), formerly known as Dharwar, is a major station in the Hubballi division of the South Western Railway. It serves the city of Dharwad in Karnataka, is ranked among the top 10 stations in the zone, and is one of the busiest stations in the state.
The new station building
On 13 October 2022, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw dedicated the redeveloped Dharwad station to the nation. The new building cost about ₹20 crore and uses "biophilic" architecture, bringing nature into the design with a vertical garden and tall columns.

The station has 4 platforms on eight tracks and stands high on the Deccan plateau, about 735 metres above sea level. In 2016 it handled at least 9,127 passengers a day. Facilities include computerised ticketing, luggage checking, a food plaza, kiosks, toilets, parking, cycle parking and access for disabled passengers. Outside, the Hubli–Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System, city buses, taxis and autos connect the station with both cities.
