Proposed lines
A Hubballi–Ankola railway has been proposed to link Karwar Port with north Karnataka, along with a Honnavar–Talaguppa line. Both are strongly opposed by the Save Konkan Ecology Forum, which warns of damage to forests and wildlife in the Ankola and Talaguppa regions, so their future remains uncertain.
