Hazrat Nizamuddin today

Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station (station code NZM) is one of Delhi's four major long-distance terminals, located in south-east Delhi near Nizamuddin East and Sarai Kale Khan. It is run by the Northern Railway zone, within the Delhi division. The station handles nearly 250 trains a day and more than 360,000 passengers daily as of 2026.

NZM is the starting point for many trains heading south and west, towards Mumbai, Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, which makes it the natural counterpart to Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi's terminal for the east.

Name and history

The station opened in 1926 and is named after the medieval Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya, whose dargah (shrine) in the nearby Nizamuddin area remains one of Delhi's most visited spiritual sites.

A major revamp was completed in 2019, adding digital information boards, modern lifts and escalators and about 300 new steel benches. In 2016 the station contracted 0.6 MW of rooftop solar capacity.
