Buxar railway station on the Howrah–Delhi main line
Buxar railway station (code BXR) serves the town of Buxar in western Bihar, close to the Uttar Pradesh border. It lies on the Patna–Mughalsarai section of the Howrah–Delhi main line and is managed by the Danapur division of the East Central Railway. Thanks to that main-line position, Buxar has direct trains to most of India's big cities.
History
- 1862: the station opens on the East Indian Railway's main line.
- 1999–2002: the line through Buxar is electrified.
- 2019: renovation adds a new foot overbridge with a lift and an escalator, and artwork in the waiting hall near the entrance.

The station has 3 platforms on eight tracks, about 67 metres above sea level. Facilities have been described as basic in places, with limited parking, drinking water and shade. A ₹130 crore redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme plans an airport-style building with longer platforms, a modern waiting hall, an upgraded foot overbridge, CCTV and a control room.
