Kanjurmarg station, the gateway to Powai
Kanjurmarg station (code KJRD, also written Kanjur Marg) is on the Central line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway, run by the Central Railway. It is the main access point for IIT Bombay, KV IIT Powai, NITIE, Hiranandani Gardens and other parts of Powai. Powai has no railway station of its own, so Kanjurmarg is the closest.
History and name
The station opened on 26 January 1968, Republic Day, and takes its name from the local Kanjur village. It stands only about 5.6 metres above sea level, in the low-lying eastern suburbs between Bhandup and Vikhroli.

Metro link and upgrades
Kanjurmarg connects with Kanjurmarg (West) station on the Mumbai Metro Pink Line, giving commuters another option for east–west travel. The railway station itself is being rebuilt under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme; it has stayed open during the work, with no reported delays to trains, and a new ticket counter has been added.
Getting to Powai
There is no parking at the station, so arrive by road transport or on foot. Powai's institutions and Hiranandani Gardens lie to the west of the line.
