Where Mumbai's suburbs meet the Konkan
Panvel railway station is Navi Mumbai's busiest rail hub, run by the Central Railway. It carries two codes: PL for suburban services and PNVL for mainline trains. Here the Harbour line and Trans-Harbour line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway meet routes heading south along the coast and east towards Karjat, which is why premium trains such as the Thiruvananthapuram Rajdhani and Madgaon Rajdhani stop at Panvel rather than going into central Mumbai.
