Secunderabad in brief
Secunderabad Junction (station code SC) is the principal railway station of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is run by the South Central Railway zone, whose headquarters is in Secunderabad, and is the main station of the Secunderabad division. It is graded NSG-1. As of 2026, about 170,000 passengers use the station daily on around 229 trains.
The story of Secunderabad
Secunderabad's railway began with the Nizam of Hyderabad. In 1870, Nizam Mir Mahboob Ali Khan proposed a line connecting his state with the main Indian network, and the Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway was formed to build the Secunderabad–Wadi line. The station opened on 9 October 1874. After independence the Nizam's railway was nationalised and became part of Indian Railways in 1951.
Platforms at Secunderabad
